Message market for it though, that's ludicrous.

I am inclined to say it's more a case of lack of knowledge/exposure to this unit as a option in our Z community:)

Most here follow what ever the popular vendors post up and co-sign, especially if dyno #'s, cfm #'s, and a long dissertation about the features and benefits are written for them to read, somewhat understand in some complicated cases, remain unclear in some cases of the features and benefits/con's; but still march forward with their wallets because vendor X said this or that on this date, or innovator Y provided the thermal capacity of a ARP bolt, and the fluid dynamics of a wet shoe lace... All of a sudden, everyone wants a wet shoelace tied to each turbo, lol... (retarded examples I know) but you get my point.

As "TheDuck" outlined in his post in this thread, the "learn mode" is cool, and does work if you drive the car long enough in that mode to get you running safely; however the end user can simple download the base map, save that "learn mode" time period, and get right to tuning.

Much like any other major mod change, whether on a MAF or on a MAP system, some adjustments may be required to dial your afr's back in, but nothing major. Especially when full breather mods are added, even on the glorious MAF system, many have reported leaner than normal conditions after such a major change in the sheer volume of air moving through the air pump that we all love so much, the VG.

Bolt on improvements to the MAF system like the selin are okay, especially when you want to make a product that does work, does improve driveability, and most importantly, its bolt on and dummy proof like the translator. Annual sales by volume are great I'm sure..

Standalones are great, and come with a ton of really cool features, however the average Joe doesn't want to tackle the wiring, and somewhat cumbersome process +immediate expense needed to get her running right since you have to redo/program allot of the functions that our OEM ECU does for us, without thinking...

Where as this unit costs UNDER $500 and does all of functions that contribute towards power and torque production, without the 3 dozen other cool features, that most will never use, or understand to use, and still not make any real noteworthy improvements to the powerband in comparison to the mapecu 2 or 3.

We are all here as enthusiast, most here have the same power addiction, some more so for street use, others more so for drag strip performance.

Going full standalone is fine and dandy, and despite the expensive prices leading most to believe it's a better product for making power, in all real world reality, it WILL NOT.

Once you've tuned your fuel, and ignition timing maps to their optimal settings for a given PSI target/target range, power stops right there. All the additional 101 features in most full standalones for $3,000+ bucks Don't really aide in making power, most just have features that eliminate the need for another piggy back system, because its already built in, ie: boost controller, traction control, launch control, 2-3 step, water meth control, blah blah... All very nice features, that certainly make the driving experience more fun in cases where you have a need for those features, but most here do not.

Thanks for your input on this thread, hopefully it helps others see that a cost effective way to upgrade from MAF is available, does work for the Z32 very effectively, is simple to install in 2hrs or less, easy to self tune for the most novice of 1st timers, and once they switch, they will wonder why they ever kept crap MAF so long (myself included).
